Who has the World’s Oil

How much oil do we think there is right now? Who has it and more importantly how much do that consume?

As most everyone knows now a days the countries that make up the Middle East hold over 60% of the worlds known oil supply. Which adds up to over 700 billion barrels of oil. With Russia & the United States bringing up a distant second and third with just under 100 billion barrels.

Real Time World Emergency Disaster Map

What if you have a real time map of the worlds earthquakes, volcano eruptions, hurricanes/typhoons, wars, epidemics & toxic accidents? All being tracked over time and all tied to a nice zoomable Google maps interface.

That would seem both long overdue and probably impossible to pull off. Someone has done it.

An information agency in Hungary has tied it all together. Not exactly sure where they are getting their information from since I can not speak Hungarian but I would assume it is a feed from the United Nations. If anyone knows for sure please leave a comment of the sites history.

Regardless it is one of the most addictive sites I have seen in a long time and has the potential of being on the the most interesting map/websites around if they could only clean the interface up a small amount.

Strange Maps brings you a new breakdown of the prevalence of of blonds throughout Europe. Pretty predictable but still interesting.

Ever wonder where do Slavic, Germanic & Romanic languages actually exits in Europe. As with all languages or accents they never follow established government borders.

Then again over time they can start to mimic them very closely. Thankfully someone has taken the time to do a detailed breakdown of the different regions of tongue and created a map with government borders overlaid.

Breathing Earth has taken the World Factbook data and applied it to an animated flash map and give you more of a big picture image. Nothing very new but old data in a new way.

Iraq Post-War Breakdown by Key Indices

Here is a visual breakdown (view image full size) of key indices in relation to the state of violence, oil production, death rate, phone subscriptions, prison population & most interestingly the electricity production.
